Weekend Viewing: On Perfume

As we go into the holiday weekend I thought it would be nice to share a three part documentary series for those wanting to kick back and watch something fun. Dealing with the subject of perfumery, it first aired on the BBC over a decade ago, but thankfully someone was kind enough to upload it onto YouTube. I remember watching this for the first time and absolutely obsessing over perfume.

For me it meant buying books on the topic (Fragrant: The Secret Life of Scent by Mandy Aftel and The Diary of A Nose by Jean-Claude Ellena come to mind) just as much as it meant smelling samples and trying to educate myself on identifying notes. I love the world of perfumery and am constantly amazed by the artistry of a well-blended formula. So it is always fun to get a sneak peek of behind the scenes.

Part One: “Something Old, Something New”

Part Two: “Bottling The Memory”

Part Three: “The Smell Of The Future”

Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season.

All my love,

Syed
